If you would like the ACLU of
Idaho to review your case, please fill out and submit
one of our online intake forms or call 208 344-9750 and
leave your name and mailing address so we can send you
the appropriate form. Before submitting an intake form,
please review the following guidelines:
- The ACLU of Idaho can only review cases in
writing.
- The ACLU of Idaho does not have staff to answer
the phone personally, to see people on a walk-in
basis, or to give legal advice over the phone or by
email.
- The ACLU of Idaho will only consider a case if
it involves the government, either through a
government representative or through a city, county,
or state law.
- The ACLU of Idaho will not take on cases that
other organizations are better able to handle.
Please see our list of
resources for people seeking legal assistance
for an agency that may be better suited to address
your complaint.
- The ACLU of Idaho is unable to assist people in
emergency situations. If your complaint has any time
constraints, please do not wait to hear from us
before taking other action.
- The ACLU of Idaho has a policy of not
interfering with the work of other attorneys. If you
already have an attorney, please have your attorney
contact us if she or he feels that a constitutional
issue is present and would like our assistance.
- The ACLU of Idaho can only accept complaints
about issues that have occurred in Idaho. If you wish
to report something from another state, please see
our
national directory and contact the ACLU
affiliate located in that state.
- The ACLU of Idaho will review your complaint and
try to respond to you directly. If you do not hear
from us it is either because your complaint does not
fit within our guidelines or is beyond the scope of
our limited resources.
