Public Policy Strategist

Kathy joined the ACLU of Idaho in 2010 and currently serves as the Public Policy Strategist. Before joining the ACLU of Idaho, Kathy worked on a civic engagement campaign to organize Idahoans to exercise their right to vote and educate them on Idaho’s election systems with the local non-profit organization the Idaho Community Action Network (ICAN).  Kathy graduated from the University of Oregon in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and International Studies with a focus in Diplomacy and Law. During her time as a university student, Kathy also interned for the Idaho Human Rights Education Center and the City of Eugene’s Equity and Human Rights Center. When not organizing volunteers or giving Know Your Rights presentations, Kathy can be found running many of Boise’s beautiful trails, volunteering with other local organizations, and cheering on her mighty Oregon Ducks.
Favorite Constitutional Amendment: The 8th Amendment which affords all people protection from cruel and unusual punishment. My wish is to see the promise of this Amendment upheld as Idaho moves to abolish the death penalty and recognize that it must execute justice, not people.
