Amicus brief advancing access to justice for indigent people with significant disabilities and language barriers.

The ACLU of Idaho filed an amicus brief advancing access to justice for indigent people with significant disabilities and language barriers.

Rosales v. Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is about ensuring access to the court for indigent people with serious impairments that prevent them for being able to advocate for themselves. Ms. Rosales is an immigrant who had a significant language barrier and a significant disability. We argue that all people have a right to legal assistance to protect their legal interests, such as fighting a reduction in public benefits like food stamps, even if they can’t afford it.
