The ACLU is our nation's guardian of liberty, working daily in courtrooms, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties that the Constitution and laws of the United States guarentees everyone in this country. 

Public Defense

The ACLU of Idaho believes that all criminal defendants have the constitutional right to effective representation of counsel. Both the federal and Idaho state constitution make the promise to adequate legal representation, which applies to all, regardless of income or social status.

Racial Justice

The ACLU of Idaho aimes to preserve and extend constitutionally guaranteed rights to people whp have historically been denied their rights on the basis of race. 

Reproductive Freedom

The ACLU of Idaho works to ensure that every woman can make the best decision about herself and her family about whether and when to have a child without undue political interference. 

Voting Rights

Nothing is more fundamental to our democracy than the right to vote. The ACLU  has historically worked to safeguard this precious right for all Americans. In Idaho, we actively engage citizens to exercise their right to vote.

Women's Rights

A look back in history shows that women have made great strides in the fight for equality- including women's sufferage (the right for women to vote) and inroads in equal opportunity in the workplace and education.
