The ACLU of Idaho works with lawmakers and policymakers, local nonprofits and government agencies, and the governor’s office to advocate for legislation that protects and strengthens our civil liberties.

Our legislative work includes:

  • Educating policymakers
  • Analyzing bills for legal and societal impacts
  • Delivering public testimony
  • Collaborating with community partners
  • Informing the public about their rights and civic duty
  • Building grassroots community power for legislative reform

Our Legislative Priorities

The ACLU of Idaho works on an array of critical civil liberty issues. As an organization, we are dedicating our resources to the rights that are most under attack in Idaho.

Our current legislative priorities are:

  • Transgender justice
  • Public defense reform
  • Prisoners' right
  • Reproductive freedom
