HB 384 establishes a payment system to financially compensate Idahoans who are wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit.

HB 384 establishes a payment system to financially compensate Idahoans who are wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit. Idaho is one of a handful of states that currently provides no financial compensation to people who may spend months, years and decades behind bars, separated from their families and the outside world, for a crime they did not commit. In addition to financial compensation, this bill would also provide reentry support for people who are wrongfully convicted and transitioning back in the community, such as healthcare, housing support, and job assistance.
