SB 1030 marks the 15th year that legislation has been introduced to bring statewide discrimination protections for Idaho’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community by adding “gender identity” and “sexual orientation” to Idaho’s Human Rights Act.

This joint resolution proposes an amendment to the Idaho State Constitution that would prohibit the production, manufacture, transportation, sale, or delivery of "psychoactive drugs" unless the drug is 1) approved by the FDA, 2) lawfully prescribed, and 3) lawfully dispensed.

The ACLU of Idaho provided comment to the PDC on proposed rules in Oct. of 2020. None of those recommendations were incorporated into the rules that are now pending before the Idaho Legislature. Currently, those rules fail to adequately address Idaho’s failing public defense system.

HB 220 prohibits public contracting and participation in any commercial transaction with an abortion provider or their affiliate and creates a “gag rule,” which prohibits public employees— from counseling in favor of abortion, or from offering a referral to an abortion provider.

SB 1027 establishes a payment system to financially compensate Idahoans who are wrongfully convicted of crimes they did not commit.

SB 1385 attempts to criminalize abortion in Idaho if Roe v. Wade is overturned, or if federal legislation is passed that would permit Idaho to bar access to abortion care.

SB 1402 raises serious constitutional concerns by barring the State of Idaho from working or contracting with any Idaho business or contractor who supports or engages in a boycott of Israel.

HB 539 would require parents to opt-in their child to any public school instruction regarding sex education.

House Bill 500 would prevent student athletes from participating in sports according to their authentic gender identity, a departure from current guiding policies from the Idaho High School Activities Association.
