SOMOS

SOMOS is a two-year program that empowers Idaho's Latine and immigrant communities through Know Your Rights information, leadership training and development, and storytelling support that challenges the anti-immigrant narrative in our state.

SOMOS participants learn about systems of power and oppression, storytelling strategies, and community leadership in their first year; and in year two, they implement these skills and knowledge in their communities to encourage communities to feel empowered to push back against attacks on their communities.

If you are not an immigrant or Latine-identifying family member of immigrants, you can still participate in SOMOS! We cannot do this important work alone. We need strong allies to help with:

Immigration law: If you are an immigration attorney, the ACLU of Idaho is looking to identify areas of collaboration. Email [email protected] and ask to be connected to our legal department.

Storytelling collaboration: The stories of immigrants and their families won't make a difference if nobody is listening. If you want to help amplify SOMOS stories, email [email protected] and ask to be connected with the communications department.

Staying informed: You can't be a good ally to any movement if you're unaware of what is happening with legislation, current events, and historical context. One way to stay on top of the constant changes in immigration is by signing up for the ACLU of Idaho's biweekly newsletter, where we break down what bills we're most concerned about and provide more information on how to get involved.
