SOMOS

SOMOS aims to foster Latino/a/e/x leadership to challenge pervasive anti-immigrant rhetoric in Idaho.

The ACLU of Idaho's innovative new program, SOMOS, aims to foster Latino/a/e/x leadership to challenge pervasive anti-immigrant rhetoric in Idaho.

SOMOS is a two-year program that empowers Idaho's Latine/immigrant communities and allies through Know Your Rights information, leadership training and development, and storytelling support that challenges the anti-immigrant narrative in our state.

SOMOS Idaho

SOMOS participants learn about systems of power and oppression, storytelling strategies, and community leadership in their first year; and in year two, they implement these skills and knowledge in their communities to encourage communities to feel empowered to push back against attacks on their communities.

Become a SOMOS ally

If you are not an immigrant or Latine-identifying family member of immigrants, you can still participate in SOMOS!

We are currently recruiting for our Alidos (allies) group. Aliados will learn and apply new skills through community-driven projects that challenge harmful narratives and strengthen local resilience. The Aliados group will work alongside the SOMOS Latine cohort as long-term partners in narrative change and community organizing, building sustained relationships rooted in solidarity and shared action. Together, participants will support efforts that uplift immigrant and Latine voices.

SOMOS Aliados participants will complete six workshops designed to strengthen solidarity with the immigrant community and equip them to challenge harmful narratives through storytelling and de-centered allyship. We are looking for community members who are committed to showing up in meaningful, accountable, and action-oriented ways alongside immigrant communities in Idaho. The workshops will start on June 11, 2026, and conclude on August 7, 2026. Graduates will receive a certificate of completion. The workshops will be held in the evenings. Food and snacks will be provided.

Application deadline for the Aliados group is June 5, 2026.
