A project created to amplify the voices of our Idahoan immigrant community.
Los Caminos de la Vida is an artivism (art + activism) project by the ACLU of Idaho’s SOMOS program. The goal of this project is to use storytelling to challenge misinformation and harmful narratives about immigrants and Latines in Idaho.
This project aims to educate non-immigrants about the challenges many immigrant families face because of an immigration system that has failed them by sharing stories that counter pervasive negative portrayals of immigrants.
If you are interested in learning more about the project, please check out our FAQ page.
Who can participate in this project?
Immigrants. That includes people with no legal status, DACA recipients, TPS holders, people that were formerly undocumented and now have status (for example: green card holders or people that now have citizenship)

Please CHOOSE ONLY ONE the following questions to answer and record your audio response:
Prompt Option 1: What is the reason/motive that inspired you and/or your family to immigrate to the U.S., specifically to Idaho?
Prompt Option 2: What do you wish non-immigrants understood about the immigration process?
Prompt Option 3: What was your experience navigating the U.S. immigration system? What obstacles such as cost, paperwork preparation, language barriers or legal requirements did you encounter?

REMINDERS:
1) Your story should NOT be longer than two minutes.
2) Please ONLY share your first name (NOT your last name) to keep your identity private.
3) Please share the state and country where you were born.
4) Find a quiet room to record.
5) If you need help on how to start your story, you can start your story like this:
Example: My name is __ (first name ONLY)__ and I was born in/am originally from __(city/state you were born)__
Now it's time to tell your story! Remember to answer ONLY ONE of the prompt questions.
If you have questions about this project or are having issues submitting your story, email our Communications and Advocacy Fellow Rosseli Guerrero.
Thank you for your vulnerability and your time. Your story will help change the narrative around immigrants in Idaho and, above all, help other people in the same situation feel seen.
