A memorial is not a bill, meaning it can’t create or change law. Memorials are typically requests from the legislature to a different governmental body.

In this case, the Idaho legislature is attempting to request that the U.S. Supreme Court overturn marriage equality. While this memorial would not create or change law, it sends a clear anti-LGBTQ message.

Recent data shows that a majority of Idahoans are in support of marriage equality. Lawmakers continue to waste state resources over an issue that has already been decided by the courts and accepted by a majority of Idahoans.

This attack on marriage equality is part of a calculated effort to erase LGBTQ+ freedoms.
