Under SB 1322, using an affidavit in lieu of personal identification to vote now requires the voter’s name, address, and date of birth or driver’s license number and requires that election judges verify the information before issuing a ballot.

Many trans folks utilize an affidavit to vote to avoid harassment if their ID does not match their gender presentation. This bill places additional barriers on trans people who want to safely exercise their voting rights.
