What's at Stake?

Voting Rights

SB 1110 Ballot Initiative & Referendum -- this legislation is intended to end the grassroots ballot initiatives in Idaho. It has officially passed both the House and Senate. Now it is up to the Governor to sign or veto. Call and email the Governor’s office and urge him to veto this legislation!  Call 208-344-2100 or email  [email protected]

HB 223 Criminalizing Ballot Assistance- would disenfranchise native, elderly, and differently-abled voters. It would also subject Good Samaritans to felony liability for merely helping someone pick-up or drop-off their ballot. This bill has already passed the House— we need your help to stop it in the Senate, click here to take action!

Reproductive Rights:

We condemn state efforts to criminalize reproductive health care providers and patients, and oppose legislative strategies that decrease access to services by constructing barriers that prevent low-income communities from accessing care. Take Action below on how you can protect Reproductive rights for all!

SB 1183 Six Week Abortion Ban -- This harmful bill that would prevent abortions after a 6 week mark and cause harm to a person who has experienced sexual violence and domestic violence. We along with other partners put together an open letter opposing this legislation.

HB 220 No Public Funds for Abortions -- is a direct attack on reproductive rights and access to life saving preventative health care. This legislation is a clear target to abortion providers. Help us make a difference by contacting your legislator today to vote "No" on this legislation!

HB 302 Expanding Abortions ‘Informed Consent” Statute -- individuals should receive accurate and unbiased information about disability following a fetal diagnosis. Additionally, it is vital that the government takes proactive steps to tackle underlying and systemic ableism, stigma, and discrimination against people with disabilities. HB 302 does neither. Take Action now and reach out to the Senate to vote No!

HB 329 Opt Student Groups and Organizations - This legislation would require school boards to approve or reject the existence of any student group or organization within its district. Similar rules in other states have been used to ban groups that facilitate conversations about issues like LGBTQ+ rights, systemic racism, and intersectionality.

SB 1086 Ban on Israel Boycott - The ACLU takes no position on campaigns to boycott Israel or any other foreign country, but we have long defended the right to participate in political boycotts, which are a proud part of this country's constitutional tradition and are protected by the First Amendment.
