Would mandate statewide sex-segregated multi-occupancy restrooms and changing facilities in government buildings and places of public accommodation.

Government entities and private businesses could be sued by individuals who believe they encountered someone of the opposite sex in a restroom.

This type of harmful legislation would lead to discrimination against transgender people, including an increased risk of violence and harassment. It would also increase surveillance and policing of physical appearance, and hurt local businesses by opening them up to costly lawsuits from patrons.

There is no evidence that trans individuals accessing gender-aligned bathrooms are a threat to safety or privacy.

However, research does show that trans people face a higher risk of violence and harassment when forced to use bathrooms based on sex assigned at birth.
